The Challenge

For families in Effingham County, the hours after school are often the toughest. While parents are working, finding safe, engaging, and affordable care for their kids is a constant worry.

That's where the Effingham County YMCA steps in. Thanks to community donations—and programs like our Giving Tuesday Auction—our local families receive financial assistance to attend our Y-BASE Before and After School Enrichment program. The Y is more than just childcare. It’s where kids learn teamwork through sports, get help with homework, and most importantly, find positive role models.

Two out of four children in our after-school program benefit from this direct financial assistance. Last year, the Effingham YMCA provided $289,212 in community benefit and helped 461 neighbors with financial assistance.

A bid of just $50 during our Silent Auction helps one child attend Y-BASE for a week, providing a safe, nurturing environment to learn and grow.
