Commander Susan Kilrain, USN (Ret.) — NASA astronaut, decorated Navy test pilot, and one of the first women ever to fly the F-14 Tomcat — is coming to Valley View. She’ll take the stage for an inspirational community lecture about her extraordinary journey from the cockpit to outer space, what she learned 200 miles above Earth, and what she wants every student, parent, and community member in Jonesboro to know about courage, STEM, and the future. Commander Kilrain piloted two Space Shuttle missions (STS-83 and STS-94), logging more than 20 days in space and over 3,000 flight hours in 30+ aircraft. USA Today named her a Woman of the Century. She’s been to the edges of our atmosphere — and she’s bringing that perspective to a stage near US!

This event is presented by STEMAIVERSE and the Valley View F.L.A.M.E. Gifted & Talented Program as part of Mission: RedCode Space Camp (June 15–19, 2026). All donations and auction proceeds support the community lecture, student scholarships, and program operations right here in Jonesboro.
