What happens when a young person has the drive, but not the map?

At DYPSI Boomertown Youth and Family Enrichment and Career Pathways Center, we believe every student and family deserves access to safe, supportive, and practical tools that help them prepare for school, career, college, and life. Many students need structured support after school, especially during the critical 3–8 p.m. hours when families are working, students need guidance, and safe enrichment opportunities are not always available.

DYPSI is building an online/virtual Out-of-School Time program to serve students and families during this important after-school window. Our virtual OST program will provide educational booklets, school-year planning tools, mentoring-style support, career exploration, family engagement resources, digital guidance, and life-readiness activities that students can access from home, school, church, libraries, community centers, or partner locations.

We also recognize that virtual support works best when connected to community. That is why DYPSI intends to support and partner with neighborhood organizations that provide in-person activities during the 3–8 p.m. after-school hours. Together, we can help students remain safe, engaged, encouraged, and connected to trusted adults and meaningful opportunities.

The Need in Our Community

Many families want their children to participate in after-school enrichment, career readiness, tutoring, mentoring, leadership development, and safe recreational programs, but access is often limited by transportation, cost, technology, staffing, or location.

Students in Title I schools, ALICE households, underserved neighborhoods, rural areas, and urban communities often need more than a one-time program. They need consistent tools, trusted support, and flexible access to programs that meet them where they are.

DYPSI’s virtual OST model helps close that gap by offering structured online programming between 3–8 p.m., while also strengthening connections with local schools, churches, libraries, community centers, and neighborhood organizations that provide in-person student support.

Our Vision for the Virtual OST Program

With your help, DYPSI will build a high-energy online learning and enrichment hub that supports Pre-K through 12th grade students and their families.

Our project includes:

Virtual Career Pathways Lab
Online sessions that introduce students to career fields, business ideas, skilled trades, college pathways, entrepreneurship, leadership, and community service.

Digital School-Year Success Tools
Educational booklets, planning pages, goal-setting worksheets, family check-in pages, study routines, attendance support tools, and student success trackers.

Mentor and Family Engagement Sessions
Virtual workshops for students, parents, caregivers, mentors, seniors, and community volunteers to help families stay connected, informed, and supported.

Technology and Access Support
Digital guidance, online program materials, printable resources, and support for students and families who may need help participating in virtual programming.

Partnership Support for In-Person Programs
Collaboration with neighborhood organizations, churches, schools, libraries, and community centers that offer in-person activities during the 3–8 p.m. after-school hours.

Workshop Series
A year-round series of virtual workshops focused on school readiness, study skills, digital safety, family communication, career exploration, college readiness, financial literacy, leadership, and life skills.
