I am a disabled retired Veteran with a 100% disability rating, titled at just 34 years old. Half of that rating is for just one of my neurodivergent diagnoses. The other 50% is for a condition my mom and brother were afflicted with. That reality lives with me every day.

My mom and I shared the same birthday. This will be the first year I face that day alone. We loved each other, but it was complicated. I hadn't seen or talked to her on Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s. The next time I saw her was when I walked into my sister’s house and collapsed on the floor.

Endless surgeries, complex and severe cases. I spent nearly two years bedridden during that time. There were months when I couldn’t even leave my bedroom. Moments passed, but were not forgotten. Yet it is why I fought to build something bigger than me.

Gasoline Rainbowz was entirely self-funded. Every dollar was a cost to my family. I was renovating a quaint, community brick-and-mortar space I paid for in cash and flesh. Before major renovations, the shop was deemed irreparable due to mold. The equipment and products we didn't lose during our Pride pop-up, we lost in the shop due to mold or water. Now every inch of our home, a home with a crumbling foundation and no grant support for the modifications I need for accessibility, is filled with equipment, packaging, and products.

Like so many in Texas and across the country, we survive on a fixed income that does not adjust with inflation. Groceries have gone up. Medications have skyrocketed. Copays I never used to pay are now unavoidable. Expenses rise while income stays the same.

Last month, I spent more than 27 days under low-light conditions, believing I might lose my physical vision. But never did I lose the vision of Gasoline Rainbowz or the #EachBreathForward movement. In that time, I finalized and created two brand-new events, ready to roll out into the world.

Why We Need Your Help

The truth is urgent: we need $3000 to survive this month and keep moving forward.
That amount reflects:

Loss of income.

Equipment that needs repair or replacement, and restocking of inventory.

I now have copays and astronomical prices for medication, after discounts.

Prices for essentials: groceries, gas, or accessibility. In some cases, I would be required to drive over 40 miles to get a refill of medications.
