Founded in 2023, Chiapas Education Project works to reduce E-waste while creating opportunities, bridging the digital divide one refurbished device at a time.

With Community support, we’ve donated more than 400 refurbished computers to Communities in Chiapas, Mexico; Cuba; South Dakota; Palestine; Guatemala; Honduras; and the Pacific Northwest. We also sponsor internet for four schools in Arriaga, Chiapas, serving more than 200 children.

We’ve shipped over 4,000 pounds of electronics and lightly used items to Chiapas. Instead of plastic packaging, we use donated clothing to protect the computers during shipment, then distribute both the electronics and clothing to Communities. This helps reduce waste in Washington while putting useful items into people’s hands.

Alongside this work, we help create spaces in Washington for Indigenous traditions and Ceremonies from Mexico and south of the border, where those of us thousands of miles from home can gather and pray in our own ways. This includes the annual “Immigrant” Justice Prayer Walk, bringing people together in solidarity with our Migrant Community.

Your support helps provide computer parts, including SSDs, RAM, batteries, and chargers; internet for four schools; and shipping to Chiapas at $4 per pound. Here in Washington, it also helps relatives facing financial barriers access refurbished computers.

By fundraising ahead of next year’s gatherings and Ceremonies, we hope to focus on the Prayer with less stress about funding.

Thank you for helping carry this work forward.
