Rock climber Sean Patrick established HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2002. Based on her own experience with the lack of information and resources concerning the disease, Sean focused HERA on increasing funding and awareness.

Climb4Life is HERA's signature fundraising event that also began in 2002 by founder Sean Patrick while recovering from her 7th ovarian cancer surgery. Being an avid rock climber, she felt an event centered on rock climbing would present ovarian cancer in a different light and get more people involved in the cause.

Currently, it is an annual rock climbing event with an after-party! Not only is it a fundraiser, it's an inspirational event encouraging participants to go beyond their comfort zone, challenge their mental and physical capabilities, and push past the limitations we all place on ourselves. Expect climbing clinics, yoga, live music, food, drinks, silent and live auctions! Participate in as many or as few of the events as you like. Proceeds fund grants that we award to scientists with “outside the box” ideas investigating new directions in basic research, treatment, early detection, and prevention of ovarian cancer.
