We are thrilled to share some exciting news!

The Community of Coffman Cove has been awarded a generous $10,000 Grant by the Coastal Community Foundation / Kemah Foundation!

And here’s the best part: they have issued a challenge to our community to match their incredible donation. This is a fantastic opportunity to double the impact of their contribution.

100% of this grant and its matching funds will be divided into thirds to help support all areas of our community here in Coffman Cove, AK:

1/3 of the grant will provide two scholarships for EMT Training! The matching funds will provide the travel expenses necessary to Juneau to take the final assessment. These 2 individuals will serve as Coffman Coves EMT's for at least one year! (Did you know that Coffman Cove does not currently have a licensed EMT?)

1/3 will be put towards the new library. A third of the Kemah foundation's grant will go towards furnishing and supplying necessary equipment for the children's section of the new library. The matching 1/3 will go towards their fundraising efforts to build a new library. (Did you know the current library is housed in a 60 year old float house that has serious rot issues in its foundation?)

1/3 will provide Arts in the Cove the necessary funds to expand the annual Arts Festival, giving SE Alaskan artists, small businesses, and crafts people a place to sell and promote their work while contributing to Coffman Cove's local economy. Matching funds will help offset increased operational costs of the Community Center at the Ferry Terminal — allowing us to continue offering mental health and physical wellbeing classes and community gatherings year-round. (Did you know the Community Center hosts exercise classes five days a week, along with painting workshops, skill building and crafting classes, game nights, movie nights, and seasonal events - including the 4th of July?)
