A Step in the Right Direction (SRD) is a grassroots organization dedicated to increasing accessibility and self-sufficiency throughout Central Columbus, with a special focus on the Westside. Since our founding in 2019, we’ve proudly served over 9,000 individuals—providing food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and crucial connections to additional resources. Now, we’re aiming higher: our goal for 2025 is to double our impact, reaching 10,000 individuals with life-enhancing support.

Health Inequalities – Promoting self-sufficiency and improving quality of life for underserved populations.
Family Engagement – Supporting and strengthening families through resources, relationships, and outreach.
Workforce Development – Empowering individuals with job training, employment pathways, and community integration.

From our beginnings supporting formerly incarcerated individuals, to now addressing the broader needs brought to light during the COVID-19 pandemic, SRD continues to grow and adapt to meet our community where they are—and help them take the next step forward.
