Founded in 2018, Deep Water Literary Fest is back this summer (June 19-21) with another ambitious program of authors, as well as a robust series of theater, visual art, and video.

This year’s festival explores Time Shift -- writing that treats time not as backdrop but as material. From historical fiction that restores voices erased from the record, to speculative novels that imagine the near future in order to critique the present, to memoirs and biographies that revisit earlier lives with new understanding, literature offers a way to move through time with unusual freedom. Books can compress decades into a single moment, recover forgotten histories, or show how the past shapes the world we inhabit now. At Deep Water, we’ll explore how writers use narrative to bend chronology, reopen archives, and illuminate the shifting relationship between memory, history, and possibility.
