ABOUT THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF THE EMERALD COAST

the Junior League of the Emerald Coast (JLEC) is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. The JLEC provides women in this area a place to grow their skills in a safe environment and a way to connect with the local community.

Our Mission

Founded in FWB in 1964, what is now known as the JLEC has been an integral part of this community for 60 years. Our history includes the restoration of the Camp Walton Schoolhouse, Garnier Post Office, and Gulfview Hotel and the founding of the Emerald Coast Science Center.

The JLEC may be most well known for our signature community event The Child Clothing Project. This event has been providing new clothing to children in our community since 1979. Each year, elementary students from Okaloosa and Walton Counties are invited on a special field trip where they get to shop for new clothing, interact with community partners, and are provided with a full lunch. Each child leaves with a new wardrobe, full belly, and full heart.
