25 Years of Tradition. Now It’s Our Turn.

In 2001, a Homecoming tailgate became something much bigger.

Ronnie Shaw came across Tracy Martin and Moe River preparing an incredible amount of food. When Ron asked who they were feeding, Tracey simply replied:

“The football team.”

Ron gathered some of the fellas from his tailgate and helped.

That simple act of service became a tradition.

Year after year, the DSC Legends were there after the Homecoming game—feeding the football team, coaches and cheerleaders. As the years passed, that tradition grew to include players’ families, students, alumni and the entire Hornet community.

The mission grew too.

In 2009, the DSC Legends Athletic Scholarship Fund was established to give back to DSU students. In 2014, the group officially became known as the DSC Legends, and in 2017, the DSC Legends Award was created to honor those who go above and beyond for Delaware State through service, mentorship and giving and the annual DSC Legends Meet and Greet during homecoming weekend, which recognizes alumni who are doing great things for Delaware State University.

The 2026 DSC Legends Homecoming Tailgate isn't just about food, drinks and music. It’s about celebrating 25 years of service, fellowship and Hornet tradition while building the next generation of DSC Legends.

We’re calling on younger alumni, former athletes, students, families and every member of Hornet Nation to get involved.

Come celebrate with us.

Come learn the history.

Come meet the Legends who started it.

And most importantly, help us make sure the tradition continues for the next 25 years.
