In 2019, Durham Success Summit began with a vision: to create a space where young Black men could dream bigger, achieve more, and transform their lives. What started as a small gathering has, over the past five years, become a powerful movement that has enabled over 500 young men to step into the workforce with confidence, purpose, and the tools for lifelong success.

For instance, Zylen Campbell, an April 2024 graduate of our Summit Scholars program recently reflected on the impact our organization with CBS News!

“I lacked confidence before this program, and it allowed me to gain confidence in myself,” said Campbell. Zylen wants to earn a degree in economics from Harvard University. He says this program has exposed him to new educational adventures, and also led him to dream big. Hear more from Zylen.

His story is one of many we're proud of over the last few years. Because of folks like YOU, DSS has become a beacon of hope and opportunity. We've witnessed first-generation college students land jobs at leading companies, young entrepreneurs start businesses, and future community leaders make a lasting impact. Each success story only further energizes us and reaffirms our commitment to breaking down barriers and building up talent, providing the network, resources, and support that every young person deserves.

Our annual gala, An Evening with Durham Success Summit, is more than a celebration – it’s a testament to the hard work, resilience, and determination of our alumni, mentors, and supporters. This year, we are excited to bring together our extended DSS family in one room to celebrate our journey and look ahead to what’s possible.

Proceeds from the DSS Annual Gala will directly fund over 450 hours of direct investment into future leaders across new, exciting programs we're excited to share more about!
