The Flash Foxy Scholarship + Leadership Development Fund provides resources and opportunities for women and genderqueer folks to attend and participate at our festivals and education programs as well as offer resources for our community to continue their outdoor education. In 2022, we awarded 27 scholarships! This included 14 scholarships to the Flash Foxy Climbing Festival, 5 scholarships to Fall Fest, 5 scholarships to Education Courses and 3 scholarships to Trailfest! ABOUT FLASH FOXY

Flash Foxy stands with the women and genderqueer community - including but not limited to gender non-conforming, non-binary, transgender, two spirit and agender folks - who need a space to pursue their love of outdoor sports without having to deal with historic barriers to access. Flash Foxy originated to empower women climbers and offer a virtual space to connect over climbing, being outside together and building community. The inaugural Women’s Climbing Festival in 2016 helped us establish an alternate climbing space in real life that did not center cisgender men. The climbing community is not static and Flash Foxy has adapted over the years to meet the needs of its membership as they grow, change and continue to self-actualize.

Our Mission is to provide accessible resources, opportunities and welcoming spaces for our climbing community through events and education programs. Originally created to celebrate women climbing with women, our community has grown to include a range of gender expressions and gender identities amongst our membership and leadership teams. In 2022, we expanded our reach to the trail running and hiking communities too!

Our Vision: Flash Foxy is committed to uplifting all community members that disrupt normalcy and need a space to connect away from narratives that tell them they don’t belong. We will continue to build sustainable spaces for women and genderqueer folks and use climbing and trail running as a means for change. We hold the belief that no one is “self-made” and therefore Flash Foxy is committed to being in conversation with other anti-oppressive organizations to disseminate knowledge and power, work collaboratively and normalize being transparent in the outdoors industry. If you want to climb and work on building intentional community, this can be a space for you and your voice to matter, to be present, seen and heard.

We want you to be able to bring your full self to climbing and to the outdoors.

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP + LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FUND

We offer scholarships to all Flash Foxy Festivals! General Scholarships include a FREE Festival Pass and $250 travel stipend (if needed). We also offer Local Indigenous Scholarships to folks living on/near the lands where our festivals take place. Local Indigenous Scholarships include a FREE Festival Pass and $100 travel stipend (if needed).

All Flash Foxy Education Courses are offered on a sliding-scale from $50-$400. To ensure our programs are financially accessible, full scholarships are also available for all 2022 education courses. As the first affinity program at the AMGA, the women’s SPI Course has a historical significance in spearheading these initiatives. This program was founded in collaboration with Flash Foxy, Brown Girls Climb, and American Alpine Club. Throughout the years, we have adapted to changes in partner’s capacity to support this program.
