In Memoriam - Scott Harrington 1963-2022

The Greenwich Old Timers Athletic Association is deeply saddened by the passing of our longtime Board member, Scott Harrington. Scott was a tireless advocate for youth sports, volunteering countless hours on our board and coaching for the GYFL Putnam Generals football team. He will be greatly missed by the Old Timers, as he was a true friend to us and role model for the many players he coached. We are humbled by the Harrington family’s choice of the Old Timers as the recipient of memorial donations. These contributions will continue Scott’s legacy of helping student athletes achieve their dreams.

Since 1960, The Greenwich Old Timers Athletic Association, founded by Jim and Joe Branca, has provided significant and critical financial support allowing Greenwich youth to participate in athletic programs as well as “needs-based only” academic scholarships. Our guiding belief is that participation in athletics teaches our children sportsmanship, discipline, and health. Our scholarships further their education and future success in society. The Old Timers have awarded college scholarships to 110 worthy young student-athletes from its inception through 2021.

At our Annual Awards Dinner, we have honored 235 local members of our community for their achievements, and 151 national sports luminaries. We have established a longstanding tradition of volunteering and giving back to the community. The Old Timers have exceeded $1,400,000 in total contributions in support of youth athletic programs and student-athletes.

We had planned two fundraisers this year, a golf tournament at Fairview Country Club and our Annual Dinner. Unfortunately, we have had to cancel both of our major fundraisers for the year due to COVID. Please make a donation so we can continue our critical mission.
