Harambee is a Kenyan tradition of coming together for a shared purpose. At Harambee 2026, we will gather around the table, hear stories from Kenya, celebrate the work already being accomplished, and raise funds for Foothold’s areas of greatest need in 2027.

Dress Code:

Celebrate Kenyan-style. Wear red in honor of Maasai culture, or shop our Kenyan scarves, hats, dresses, and accessories to complete your look. We put together a collection of apparel and accessories just perfect for the evening.

Why This Night Matters

Foothold works alongside communities in rural Kenya to help girls remain in school, reduce their vulnerability to trafficking and gender-based violence, and strengthen the families and communities surrounding them.

We have learned that paying a girl’s school fees does not necessarily mean she will be able to complete her education.

She may still miss school because she does not have menstrual pads. Her school may lack clean water or soap. Her family may be unable to afford transportation or healthcare. She may face abuse, exploitation, or pressure to leave school before graduating.

Any one of these missing pieces can change the course of her life. Many of them, however, can be addressed through practical and affordable support.

That is why Foothold takes a holistic approach that includes:

Menstrual pads and reproductive health education through the Jasiri Project
Clean water, soap, and hygiene supplies for schools and clinics
Educational support for girls and families
Trafficking and violence-prevention programs
Mental health and play therapy training for Kenyan professionals
Support for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence
Partnerships with local leaders, teachers, healthcare workers, counselors, and community volunteers

When a girl remains in school, she has more choices about her future. She is less vulnerable to exploitation, more likely to earn a sustainable income, and better equipped to support the health and education of her own children.

Harambee 2026 is an opportunity for all of us to pull together so that one missing necessity does not become the reason a girl loses her education, her safety, or her future.
