Story
We’re throwing the party of the year in celebration of ThanksLiving for the animals and the fall harvest! Miyoko will be cooking up a storm, preparing a spread featuring her famous UnTurkey and multiple other culinary delights so we can celebrate together as a sanctuary community.
✨ Kick it off with our VIP gathering in the new Compassion Garden from noon till 1pm.
🪕 Then, at 1pm, join us for the main event: Feast on Chef Miyoko's famous UnTurkey alongside new friends. We’ll have a fun live auction featuring comedienne Jennie McNulty, and then kick up our heels to square dance to caller Evie Ladin & her band. Yes, this will be an afternoon you won’t want to miss!
Playing traditional folk songs for square dances, caller and bandleader Evie Ladin will provide a warm, jubilant sonic atmosphere that even the shyest of dancers won't be able to resist. "The polyrhythmic heat of Evie Ladin’s clawhammer banjo, resonant voice, real stories and rhythmic dance have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Lincoln Center, Celtic Connections to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Brazil to Bali. A prolific creator and gracious facilitator, Evie grew up steeped in traditional folk music/dance up and down the East Coast, bringing a syncretic vision to new work while holding fast to the roots."
The New England Blade named Jennie McNulty, “One of the premiere comedians in the country.” The Examiner called her an, “infectiously energetic, remarkably deft comic with a warm disarming style and some of the best improv skills in the business.” Curve magazine rates her among the “Top 10 lesbian comics.” Her playfully sarcastic style wins over every crowd the moment she takes the stage.
In the Vegan World, Jennie has also worked with the "Educated Choices Program," bringing a message of healthy eating into schools. And, using her Master's degree from the University of Michigan in Kinesiology, she has developed a corporate health/comedy program helping to explain the vegan in your life to you! For fun, Jennie played 15 seasons on a professional women’s tackle football team and is now their game day announcer.
