This holiday season, you have the chance to be part of something extraordinary. Whether you choose to cheer on a dedicated Elf Team or directly sponsor a family, every action brings hope, joy, and holiday magic to those who need it most.

1. Make a Donation

Our Elf Teams will be delivering joy to children and families. By donating you’re helping to cover the costs of the gifts, activities, and all the little details that make this event possible. How Did this START?

The HoLiDAY CHEER BUS: Delivering Joy, One Stop at a Time 🚌

Nine years ago, the HoLiDAY CHEER BUS was born out of a time of profound personal struggle. Melissa Firmes, the driving force behind KiDS NEED MoRE, was battling leukemia. During this difficult time, her husband, Johnny Ray, wanted to do something special—something that would not only lift their spirits but also brighten the lives of other families facing similar hardships. So, with a heart full of hope and a small, brightly decorated bus, he set out on a mission to create a new holiday tradition. That first bus, filled with gifts and cheer, drove through neighborhoods, delivering joy to families who needed it most.

The bus wasn’t just about gifts—it was about bringing back the holiday magic that many parents and caregivers found too difficult to create on their own. When you’re caring for a sick child, grieving a loss, or simply overwhelmed by life’s challenges, the energy to celebrate can feel out of reach. But that’s where the HoLiDAY CHEER BUS comes in. The volunteers, dressed as elves and holiday characters, aren’t just delivering toys—they’re delivering hope, laughter, and the magic of the season to homes that might otherwise feel empty.

As adults, we understand that a tough holiday one year can be made up for the next. But for children, those magical holiday moments can only happen once. You can’t redo being six years old on Christmas morning. These core memories are essential to a child’s healthy development, and the HoLiDAY CHEER BUS ensures that even when families are too tired, too stressed, or too heartbroken to create the magic, the magic still arrives—bright, joyful, and unforgettable.

What began as a simple bus ride to bring joy to a few families has now blossomed into a cherished tradition. The HoLiDAY CHEER BUS has grown into a fleet, delivering happiness to over 1,500 children and families every year. Thousands of volunteers, sponsors, and community members come together to make sure no child misses out on the magic of the holidays.

Now in its 9th season, the HoLiDAY CHEER BUS continues to be a beacon of light for families in need. It reminds us all that while childhood only happens once, the joy and memories created during these moments will last a lifetime.
