I make each piece as something to treasure for decades to come, with at least two hours spent on each, even a mug. I want to make them worth the energy of firing them into something permanent — with carving, poems, drawings, patterns — and worth giving to a good friend or yourself. And something you'll want to cuddle every morning with your hot beverage of choice.

The interplay of trees, horses, and birds on the coastal mountain landscape inspire many of my pieces.

And of course the details of nature inspire. I'm excited that this piece, "Old Growth Redwood Forest Winter Flora Mug & Saucer" is now in the juried Ology Gallery exhibit, The Banquet: The Winter Feast ...

And I love hearing from friends that they still have the mug I made for them way back in college. Now I'm still in college :-) ... doing semesters at Mendocino Community College ceramics studio. It's my fav studio ever and since I'm a social potter, it's way better than creating things alone.

After 10 years away doing other things, last year I set out to make 100 mugs to see how they would evolve into more fluid forms that you'd love to put to your lips. My friends and I have been trying them out and giving me UX feedback.

I love seeing which mug someone reaches for, and getting a piece to it's right forever home. Now I'm at mug #215 or something like that for this past year.

Ceramics Saturdays are THE BEST. That's my sacred day in the studio. 15% of all proceeds from my holiday sales go to the fantastic Mendocino College Ceramics program, which hosts workshops with great artists like Ruth Easterbrook who inspire me and others.

After thinking and getting inspired on a road trip, I seem to set up these auctions aka stores at Gwen's soccer game tethered to my iPhone, and here I am back at another one in the shadow of Mount Tamalpais.
