Dear friends of IOCSF,

In the midst of preparing for the celebration of our 20th Anniversary Season, IOCSF is facing challenging financial times.

After emerging from the pandemic to continue our vibrant programs of new choral works, we are encountering difficulties in supporting the organization's core operational costs. We learned recently that two of our major sustaining grants have scaled back operations and are unable to continue supporting us in the coming year. In addition, our regular production costs have increased alongside all of the other macroeconomic pressures we all face.

We won't sugar coat it: this coming year will be a tough one, and we could use your help.

We have an exciting year planned ahead, and your support will help us continue our mission of championing new choral voices and providing our community with free access to all of our regular season concerts. This December, we're excited to share our "Holidays with a Twist!" program — our first ever holiday-themed concert! The concert will be filled with fully reimagined holiday classics featuring the premieres of 10 new works from composers all around the world — from San Francisco to South Africa!

For our 20th Anniversary Concert in spring of 2024, we have commissioned a brilliant new piece from composer Rex Isenberg for choir and string quintet, focused on giving voice to climate change. We'll be pairing Rex's piece with Caroline Shaw's moving "To the Hands," a treatise on refugee crises around the world.

Your support is critical to helping us continue performing uplifting new choral works and making new music accessible to audiences everywhere, such as our recent YouTube concert live streams, and the production of our most recent live recording, Messiahs: False and True.

We would not be celebrating our 20th anniversary this year without the dedicated support of our community. Any amount you can give is a meaningful way to sustain us for the next 20 years and beyond.
