In February, we’re honoring James’ birthday by carrying forward his greatest wish: to empower everyone to Be Your Own Advocate. When James was diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC) at 38, he made a brave choice to share his story—not for sympathy, but because CRC is preventable when caught early. He wanted everyone to know that taking charge of your health could save your life.

This benefit is about knowledge and access. That’s why we’ve partnered with the incredible doctors at the Association of Black Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists (ABGH) to create a resource library in James' honor. We’re also hosting a virtual auction featuring one-of-a-kind pieces donated by artists James performed with during his career—including custom artwork, VIP ticket packages, and signed memorabilia. 100% of proceeds will go directly toward providing life-saving screenings for uninsured individuals.

The auction will culminate in a webinar on March 11th at 8PM ET, featuring gut health experts from ABGH alongside friends of James. Together, they’ll share critical information on recognizing the signs and symptoms of CRC—especially in young people—and offer practical steps to advocate for your health.
