In Japanese culture, compassion, community, and respect for animals have long been at the heart of daily life. You may recognize the iconic Maneki-neko (Lucky Cat), believed to bring good fortune, or the many folktales where cats play a special and beloved role. From these timeless stories to Japan’s cozy cat cafés, our feline friends have long been cherished as symbols of protection and companionship.

That’s why honoring Japanese culture feels like a perfect match for our mission of caring for and restoring the most vulnerable cats in our own community, one small furry life at a time.

This year, Topeka Whisker Warriors 501(c)(3)—alongside Topeka Cat Cafe and Chen Liang, Local Realtor—is overjoyed to host a special fundraising auction alongside the Japanese Cultural Celebration. This auction brings together a love of culture and a love of cats, with every bid helping provide care, comfort, and second chances for rescue cats in our community.

Each year, hundreds of cats find themselves without homes, in need of urgent medical care, or discarded by humans who were supposed to take care of them. Topeka Whisker Warriors works tirelessly to give these cats a safe place to land through foster care at Topeka Cat Cafe. We infuse love and life back into every cat that comes through our doors. From the smallest of kittens, to senior cats needing a second chance, we adore each and every feline we get the honor to help on their path to their forever home. Community is the foundation in which we were able to make our dream a reality, and thanks to that incredible community support, we’ve helped over 700 cats find loving homes! Your participation helps keep that momentum going.
