Two years in, a perilous moment for Ukraine.

February 24 marks two years since russia launched its deranged war of erasure on Ukraine. In that time, the world discovered the strength, bravery, ferocity, warmth, and charm of the Ukrainian people, and rallied to their side. But international support is faltering thanks to division stoked and inflamed by russia; and individuals' support is similarly flagging as the war wears on and their attention turns to other things. Donations of all kinds have dropped off precipitously just when Ukraine finds itself in its most dangerous moment since russia sent its troops over the border two years ago.

We're holding a special auction to mark this disgusting anniversary and serve as a reminder that Ukraine is still fighting. We chose these two pieces--one sculpture, one signed flag--because they were contributed by soldiers from the front and represent the indomitable Ukrainian spirit.

Sculpture: Force

Made from a scrap of russian Grad rocket which struck a stabilization point in Toretsk on November 1, 2022, this sculpture captures the ease with which an explosion punctures even steel.

The rocket struck a Ukrainian stabilization point in Toretsk on November 1, 2022. There were no casualties. Legendary doctor Kaplya, who is featured in this Kyiv Independent piece, sent it off to our German operative Arcaist, who wrested this sculpture from the twisted remains.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the medical service of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade, with whom Kaplya served until his retirement in June 2023.

Flag signed by defenders from the 14th, 30th, 35th, 54th, 57th, 93rd, 128th, and National Police

A hospital in Regensburg, Germany treats severely wounded Ukrainian soldiers. This flag was given to us by Lt. Andrii from the 35th, who is now back at the front after having fully recovered in Regensburg. It now bears the signatures of the guys pictured here, whose stories you can read on the flag's page. They graciously gave it to us to auction.

Money raised from the flag will support UFL's mission to fulfill soldiers' direct requests. (In fact, we've sent a bunch of soldiers "graduating" from Regensburg back to Ukraine with everything from warm socks to night vision devices.)
