Quintessence was formed in Albuquerque in 1986 to celebrate the oldest and most expressive of musical instruments, the human voice. For 39 years we have been charming and entrancing Albuquerque audiences.

Quintessence has always featured its headline choir, its members chosen by audition. Today, under Artistic Director Matthew Greer, the choir presents a four-concert season with great professionalism and a touch of quirkiness.

In recent years Quintessence has launched two community singing projects, Park Sings and Beer Choir, open and welcoming to everyone who loves to sing along. Our annual Messiah Sing has become a holiday tradition.

In addition, Quintessence, in partnership with Albuquerque Public Schools, St. John's Music Ministries (the program is secular) and The VOCES8 Foundation, is now in its fourth year of bringing innovative vocal music instruction to elementary school children in select Title 1 schools around Albuquerque with an engaging and dynamic new program called Sing Together.

This season, Quintessence has the goal of raising $65,000 to support our mission for bringing together as many singers as possible, as often as possible, in as many settings as possible.
