Who are we and why are we doing this fundraiser?

Golden Retriever Rescue of SouthWest Florida, Inc., formed in 2009, is an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue organization. Based in SouthWest Florida, GRRSWF is dedicated to finding exceptional homes for Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes who are homeless, abandoned in shelters or surrendered by their owners. To date we have rescued over 1300 dogs.

This fundraiser is to help our very special rescue boy Ryder continue his journey.

Ryder was found as a stray in Tampa, unable to walk — his shelter photo showed him being pushed in a wheelbarrow. When we rescued him, he was just 46 pounds, covered in sores and fleas, too weak to stand… but his tail still wagged. Even after everything he had endured, Ryder still believed in people. He still wanted to live.

As he began to heal, the world fell in love with him. #TeamRyder was born. Rehab, therapy, and endless love have helped him grow a little stronger, but Ryder is battling a serious neuromuscular disorder, still needs ongoing care, and a true diagnosis.

The beautiful thing? Ryder doesn’t know he’s different. He plays. He runs. He chases tennis balls. He may not make it far but he's happy. He wakes up every day full of joy.

His journey isn’t over — and he can’t do it alone.
