SEA WAVES began as a ripple of hope and has grown into a powerful wave of change for military service members, veterans, and their families. Founded by Navy Senior Chief (Ret.) Leah Stiles, SEA WAVES was born out of her personal journey and a deeply felt need to address an often-overlooked challenge within the military: eating disorders.

Leah witnessed firsthand how the pressures of military life, combined with rigid fitness standards and the stigma surrounding mental health, created an environment where disordered eating could thrive in silence. Determined to bridge the gap between awareness and action, she launched SEA WAVES to be a beacon of support, understanding, and advocacy.

Our name—SEA WAVES—represents Support, Education, Awareness, Wellness, and Validation for Eating Disorders and Self-Care. It embodies our vision of a military community where no one has to face the storm of eating disorders alone. Through initiatives like the MEDAL Training Program and The Lighthouse Project, we empower leaders, provide critical education, and inspire hope, helping to change the tide for countless individuals and their families.

SEA WAVES’ work is deeply personal and profoundly impactful. With the support of our community, we aim to create a world where service members are not only ready to serve but also equipped to thrive—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
