Join us in celebrating another year of community and creativity with “The Last Word,” Blue Stoop’s annual end-of-semester fundraising campaign.

The campaign comprises a donation drive and silent auction (December 1 - December 31), and a virtual celebration on Zoom (January 24). This festive evening will feature interactive games, words from Blue Stoop directors past and present, and performances by students and faculty, all in support of our financial aid program and free public programs.

Blue Stoop makes high-quality creative writing education accessible to Philadelphians of all backgrounds. Each year, we serve hundreds of writers through affordable classes, free programs, and community events. With 33% of our students bringing in less than $40,000 per year, our financial aid offerings and free public programs ensure that cost is never a barrier to participation.

Blue Stoop's 2025 by the numbers:

88 free public programs (76% increase from 2024)
625 students (18% increase from 2024)
42 tuition-based writing classes (2.5% increase from 2024)
$10,590 in aid/scholarships (44% increase from 2024)
$28,000+ paid to teachers and facilitators (27% increase from 2024)

In May 2018, a critical mass of Philadelphia writers came together to create a hub for literary culture. Today, Blue Stoop offers high quality classes and inspiring events led by local writers and creatives. Today, Blue Stoop envisions a radically inclusive literary community where Philadelphia readers and writers are thriving and supported.
