Welcome to the Long Island Pine Barrens Society's 49th Anniversary Gala Silent Auction!

"A Life Well-Lived, A Legacy Unmatched." That's the theme for this year's gala, which is dedicated to the late, great, Richard "Dick" Amper. Dick became the Society's Executive Director in 1989, and in that role he led what had once been a small collection of young naturalists to historic heights. It was thanks to his titanic efforts that New York State passed the Pine Barrens Protection Act in 1993, and thus protected over 100,000 acres of Pine Barrens in perpetuity, preserving Long Island's natural beauty, as well as safeguarding its precious drinking water. Dick Amper passed away on March 23, 2026, and the impact of his loss cannot be overstated.

Each year, the Anniversary Gala (and its attached Silent Auction) proves to be the Society's largest fundraiser, allowing us to start the new year off right. We aim to continue our work preserving Long Island's land and water - continuing Dick's legacy - for many years to come, and so we are grateful that you've decided to join us for this year's auction.
