Support Gamelan Mojomanis - The First Community-Based Balinese Ensemble in Indiana!

Gamelan Mojomanis is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization rooted in the belief that music can build bridges across cultures and communities. We introduce the public to Balinese performing arts by fostering a collaborative music-making environment. From training local artists into proficient performers to hosting visiting master artists from Bali, we bridge the gap between tradition and local innovation. Our program supports this growth through a comprehensive rehearsal schedule, including full ensemble sessions, small sectionals, and private lessons.

We are raising funds to launch an ambitious second season. Your contributions directly support the growth of Balinese performing arts in Indiana by helping us:

Launch Kosmik Mojo: Providing essential instruments, supplies, and costumes for our new youth ensemble.
Empower Artists: Ensuring fair compensation for visiting Balinese master artists and local collaborators.
Deepen Musical Artistry: Funding creative projects that challenge our performers and foster cultural understanding.
Expand Community Access: Offering public workshops and performances that make these traditions accessible to everyone.

2025 Highlights:

Kecak workshop at CAMI 11/22/25

Levitt VIBE Indianapolis Music Series - introduced Balinese arts traditions to local audiences.

GamutRIA Educational Tour - featured our visiting artist Made Wardana (a.k.a. Ciaaattt) and conducted educational workshops and collaborative performances with Friends of the Gamelan (Chicago, IL), Langen Kerti (Lexington,KY), Kusuma Sari (Bowling Green, OH), and our own subset ensemble Mojoalit (Indianapolis, IN).

Artist Residency - hosted Made Wardana as guest teacher during November and learned one of his compositions, Tabuh Telu "Mentik," which will be featured on our program throughout this season.

Los Angeles Gamelan Festival - participated in the festival held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia on June 14-15, 2025. This facilitated artistic exchange among many gamelan organizations within the U.S.

Lawrence Summer Balinese Gamelan Intensive - joining a week long gamelan intensive taught by master artist I Dewa Putu Berata.

Purdue Boiler Gold Rush - welcome and interactive performance for the new students at Purdue University.

Levitt VIBE Indianapolis Music Series - Outdoor community concert hosted by the Contemporary Art Museum of Indianapolis.

"Mebarung" Langen Kerti x Mojomanis - a collaborative showcase with Gamelan Langen Kerti at University of Kentucky for their 10th anniversary celebration.
