So anyway, I've been wanting to do this for a while so that people out in the world can enjoy unique mugs and other things, and now have a great reason ...

This year's auction items will help send Gwen to Brown University this summer in Providence, Rhode Island for a course for high school students on infectious and epidemic disease:

It’s possible the COVID pandemic and her incredible teachers have influenced her!

For her sophomore year she's been busy creating youth policy proposals for our rural area, learning how to be a witness / detective / prosecutor / etc in mock trials, tackling precalculus and tutoring a student in math, submitting essays for competitions, and more.

Last year's auction (Season 1) successfully sent Gwen to Spain on her 10-day high school trip this Spring. She had an AMAZING time both delivering the auction items and being on the trip:

We have had a momentous year. Grandma Susie played a big part and we spent every evening at her place, often making pottery and cooking dinner to keep her company since she was ill. I made about 140 mugs and some salt women on her kitchen counter with Susie's input on style and design, and she gave about 30 mugs to her friends as a last heartfelt present.

You'll see lots of birds on my pieces now because of Susie, and the sun on one side and moon on the other for day turning to night.

Now the stockpile of mugs, salt women, bowls, vases, pitchers, and textiles are ready to go, along with some special summertime experiences. You'll see that many of the designs are from nature, and the stays are in nature too.

I'm pretty sure this is a very unique auction!

My daughter Gwen and I have been making art together and sharing advice since Gwen was very little, as you can see from the pic of us at an art marathon long ago:
