Charlotte New Music exists to support the creation of new music and a shared presence between creators of music and our community.

We are a platform and community made up of composers - a space where artists create new work, share it with the public, and build meaningful connections. It's not just about concerts -- it's about using music as a means for connection, dialogue, and transformation.

Right now, we are raising support to help build the next chapter of Charlotte New Music.

An important goal of ours is to launch a youth chorus - a space where young people can come together to experience the joy, creativity, culture, discipline, and belonging that music offers. With no instrument costs, they use their very own beings to create. They will learn from, and perform with, local music artists from a wide range of styles and backgrounds. Making music in younger years shapes confidence, empathy, collaboration, problem-solving, and imagination and it is so important for us to be present and actively invest in our youth.

We're also developing a jail initiative centered on mental health and human connection through music. Through this work, we give a voice to the music and messages created by incarcerated individuals. These are important messages that the community, youth, and world needs to hear. Messages of reflection, lessons, accountability, healing, and life-changing shifts.

Art opens doors to new pathways and understandings, where other communication cannot.
