25 Years of Keeping Neighbors Safe, Warm, and Dry

Neighbor in Need, Inc. is partnering with Amplify Decatur for a special evening of music, community, and giving, while raising critical emergency repair funds for longtime elderly homeowners in our neighborhoods. We have a simple belief: no one should have to live in fear because they can’t afford a home repair.

Even in the best of times, many of our legacy neighbors face rising costs—property taxes, home repairs, heating and cooling, and healthcare. Too often, they’re forced into impossible choices:

Do I pay for my medicine… fix the roof… or cover my taxes?

For many, the cost of maintaining their home becomes too much, forcing them to sell the place where a lifetime of memories was made. What began as a couple of volunteers working nights and weekends has grown into a powerful community effort—hundreds of volunteers, trusted service contractors, and projects spanning East Lake, Kirkwood, Edgewood, East Atlanta, Reynoldstown, Westview, and beyond.

Today, Neighbor in Need is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, providing life-changing home repairs that allow seniors to age safely in place. In 2025, we spent over $420,000 on 87 projects (our most ever)!

Where Your Money Goes

Because Neighbor in Need is entirely volunteer-run, every dollar raised goes directly to helping seniors stay in their homes.

Typical projects include:

HVAC repairs and replacements
Roof repairs
Accessible bathrooms and showers
Plumbing and water line repairs
Electrical work and rewiring
Tree removal and exterior repairs
Kitchen and structural repairs

All work is completed by licensed, insured contractors who generously discount their services to stretch every dollar further.
