When the Millstadt Library first opened its doors, the 1,500-square-foot facility served 2,168 Millstadt residents. Today, the same 1,500 square feet serves 4,074 Millstadt residents. The library simply has outgrown its current facilities. The new Millstadt Library building aims to solve the problems of insufficient space, outdated facilities, aging infrastructure, and federal and state accessibility code compliance.

The new Millstadt Library is being carefully and thoughtfully planned as a much-needed project to better serve the Millstadt community. With the new building, the library will have meeting rooms for events and a possible maker-space to educate the community on new things and encourage new ideas and resources. There will be study rooms for students, budding entrepreneurs and other small groups.

The new location also gives the library the ability of being directly aligned with the town’s primary education center, a school which has only a small library and no librarian available to the young students. The library will also be a short walk from the local middle school. This allows the library to offer many more resources to these young minds. Besides materials and help with research, there will also be the availability to host after-school programs and tutoring and provide students the opportunity to volunteer. There will be designated reading areas for children, teens and adults to facilitate a comfortable place where individuals can read, learn and grow.

But maybe, that is still not enough of a, "why should I donate?" Because a donation to build a library in Millstadt is not just a donation, it is an investment in the future of your community. An investment in the education and social skills of every person who lives and works in our Village. Libraries are much more than books, they are a safe space of resources and activities for all who enter. It is the goal of the institution to continue to push its boundaries to fulfill the needs of its patrons and to be a place where anyone of any background is welcome and is equal.
