About the Alaska Children's Museum

Mission

The mission of the Alaska Children’s Museum is to inspire lifetime learning and build community through family engagement and knowledge sharing that honors children’s need to explore and understand their world through play.

Vision

We provide child-led playful, place-based learning experiences that are reflective of Alaska’s diverse Indigenous, settler, immigrant and refugee cultures.

Impact

In 2024, with an operating budget of just under $30,000, we added three (3) exciting new exhibits to our mobile museum operations, successfully participated in over thirty (30) community and private events throughout Anchorage, partnered with the Alaska Botanical Garden, Alaska Junior Theater, Best Beginnings, Keys to Life, and the Anchorage School District, and moved our official address from a private residence into an office space in the University Center Mall. We expanded our organizational capacity through trainings with the Foraker Group and deepened our connections within the Children’s Museum ecosystem through involvement in the MuseumLab for Museum Professionals (MLMP) inaugural program and participation in Interactivity 2024.
