What is Not-a-Sprint Weekend?

The Cancer Active/Throwing Bones 3rd Annual Not-A-Sprint Weekend is not just an event; it's a unique opportunity for you to make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. The event will be held from August 31st to September 1st, 2024, and we look forward to your valuable contribution.

The “Attitude & Effort” Golf Tournament is held yearly in honor of Kirk Wilkerson, who ended his fight with cancer in 2021, having never given up. Using funds raised in the first two years of the golf tournament, Cancer Active and Kirk’s family established a memorial in his name at East Rutherford High School.

The Not-A-Sprint dinner and auction will look a little different this year. Food trucks and the MoonFish2 band will entertain guests, and the band and festivities will be open to the public this year.

The Not-A-Sprint 3-6-12 hour race and relay is a potential ultramarathon event. An ultramarathon is any running event longer than 26.2 miles. Runners who are able to run more than 50 miles within the 12 hours allotted will receive a custom belt buckle. Beginning this year, 6- and 12-hour runners can run the race as a relay team. The race will begin on Sunday at 6 a.m.

All funds raised through the 2024 Not-A-Sprint Weekend will support Cancer Active programs and launch the Cancer Active Patient Portal by the end of 2024.
