Historically, Black and Brown students have faced systemic barriers to outdoor education and the many wellness benefits that come with these experiences. At NYC Outward Bound Schools, we work to provide students of ALL backgrounds with equitable access to immersive and joyful learning experiences outside of the classroom — at their school, in the city, and at our wilderness campsite upstate.

Beyond just exposure to the outdoors, our specific brand of outdoor education is proven to support the development of social-emotional skills — like collaboration and initiative — that are transferable to the classroom and support academic progress.

How you can support NYC Outward Bound Schools

A $35 donation goes toward camping gear for students who go on courses upstate — shoes, sleeping bags, and insulated jackets.

A gift of $65 supports one student for a half-day of rock climbing at NYC Outward Bound’s climbing wall — the tallest outdoor wall in NYC!

A donation of $125 supports one student on a full-day community building program with their peers at a city park.

$350 supports one student on NYC Outward Bound’s signature overnight adventure course upstate in Fishkill, NY.
