On January 24, 2025, a burst pipe caused a catastrophic flood in our building, severely damaging our gallery, infrastructure, and operations. Water poured into the space for several hours, and while we face months of recovery, we remain hopeful and committed to providing artists with opportunities to showcase and sell their work during this challenging time.

The flood disrupted months of planning for exhibitions, directly impacting curators and the artists preparing to share their work this year. Exhibitions like Dope Women in Media, GIRLHOOD, and the Detroit Artists Market Annual Scholarship Exhibition were at risk of cancellation. Thanks to the incredible support from our community, we've successfully rehomed two exhibitions, found potential temporary locations, and are working tirelessly to assess the damage while staying true to our mission of connecting artists, collectors, and communities.

We are just shy of reaching our $35,000 fundraising goal, and your support will help us cross the finish line! To help meet this goal, we invite you to a special Flood Support Fundraiser on Sunday, March 30, from 3–5 PM at BasBlue. Thanks to the generosity of DAM’s artists, 100% of artwork sales will directly support our rebuilding efforts.

By attending, purchasing artwork, or making a donation, you will help DAM secure temporary exhibition and office spaces, cover moving expenses, and offset the financial losses caused by this disaster.
