The Joy of Sports Foundation has a mission of helping more youth become active and stay active.

Since the COVID pandemic, youth have been experiencing:

An increase in obesity
A decline in youth activity
An increase in mental health issues

The Joy of Sports Foundation wants to reverse this trend.

One of the goals of the Joy of Sports Foundation is to create new opportunities for youth to be active. We have four critical efforts underway:

1. We offered PlayFit for middle school youth who want to be active and do not want the competitive environment of traditional sports. Seventeen middle school youth are active for 45 minutes twice a week and enjoy the program. We want to run this program in the spring of 2023.

2. We just completed a capital campaign to build a multi-sport outdoor street hockey rink on the Derry Township School District Property.

3. We funded the installation of new concrete T-Pads for the Disc Golf Course at Shank Park, Hummelstown, PA, and 50% of the materials cost to install second baskets on all holes in 2023.

4. We are leveraging the data from some 2000 Derry Township students to help community constituents including parents, coaches, school administrators, and local businesses understand why kids are not active and what we can do collectively to drive change.

Our 'Fun" raiser is to help increase the awareness of JSF, and grow funds to support our current and future efforts.
