Our beautiful boy Ian, lost his battle to mental illness on July 22, 2023. This heartfelt evening will honor the life and legacy of Ian Strain, a kind, compassionate, and deeply empathetic young man who touched the lives of everyone he met. Ian had a rare ability to connect with others on a soul level - he saw people for who they truly were and made them feel safe, heard, and loved. He was playful, present, and full of life, often reminding those around him to slow down and appreciate the moment. Ian's struggles with mental illness were met with incredible strength and vulnerability, and although his life was cut tragically short at age 21, his spirit continues to guide the work of Hope With I.A.N.

Founded in his memory, Hope With I.A.N. exists to break the stigma surrounding mental health, provide access to holistic, science-backed education and support, and offer hope to those navigating their own mental health journeys.

During the evening, Hope With I.A.N. will also share an inspiring look at what's ahead - unveiling how the organization plans to serve the Central Coast community with new mental health programs, outreach initiatives, and hands-on resources that bring the mission to life in real and lasting ways.

Ian loved all genres of music, and one of his favorite all time pieces was Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata composed in 1801. Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata can be interpreted as an expression of inner strength, the human will to keep fighting and the idea that even difficult times will end.

Although this video is not Ian playing "Moonlight" Sonata, we wanted to share his incredible self taught talents with you. He is playing "Classical Gas" in this video.
