Healing on Both Ends of the Leash: Hallie’s Story

Hallie’s journey with Paws & Think began in 2022 as a young pittie mix from Indianapolis Animal Care Services, participating in our Youth-Canine Program at the Marion County Youth Services Center. Like many shelter dogs, she arrived full of energy and uncertainty, but also full of potential. During that week of connection and training with teens, Hallie caught the eye of our Lead Trainer, Kim.

Kim was drawn to Hallie’s joyful spirit and her ability to light up every room she entered. She saw how much Hallie loved meeting new people and believed she had something truly special to offer. After the program ended, Kim adopted Hallie, giving her a loving home and the stability she needed to thrive.

Over the next couple of years, Hallie blossomed. With love, guidance, and a deep bond between them, she gained the confidence and calm presence needed to become something extraordinary, a therapy dog. This year, Hallie made it official. Kim and Hallie passed their evaluation to become a registered therapy team, bringing smiles and comfort to the same kinds of communities that once supported her.

Through our Youth-Canine and Therapy Dog programs, lives are changed on both ends of the leash. Tails of Celebration is our chance to ensure those programs continue to grow and reach more people and dogs who need support, connection, and hope. Your generosity makes that possible.
