Thank you for visiting this very special fundraiser that will directly benefit local crafters and artisans that positively impacted the life of our Mother, Peggy O’Neale Smith Price.

Peggy’s favorite thing to do was create and she had countless talents! Throughout life she had many creative endeavors. Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina which she fondly referred to as, “The home of my heart,” she was especially proud of her time spent managing The Night Market at the historic Charleston City Market as well as The South Carolina Artisans Center in Walterboro, S.C.

Peggy not only made her impact in the South but also the Northeast and the Pacific Northwest!

In Maine, she co-owned and operated an antique and general store, a bed and breakfast, a bakery, a charming shop on Main Street in Kennebunk and was also a vendor at the Saco River Winter Market.

While living in Oregon, Peggy (self-named, “Apronologist”) was happy to spend her retirement days sewing from dawn until dusk in her beloved, “She Shed” in the Big Valley Woods of Boring, Oregon and then from her charming cottage on family property in Gresham. Her favorite quote was, “My soul is fed with a needle and thread!” Peggy’s signature items, “Hostess Aprons” made a statement from the Mt. Hood Farmers Market in Sandy to The Philip Foster Farm (on the Oregon Trail) Country Store in Eagle Creek and essentially every stop she made along the way! Her red transit connect van could be seen from miles away and was known as her vibrant showroom on wheels.

Based on her love for creating and the arts, we have chosen two artisan groups to support in her memory; The Basket Makers of South Carolina and the Mt. Hood Farmers Market. We thank you for making a donation of any amount so their communities can continue to thrive and keep the arts alive!

In her final months, Peggy wished for one thing, to be able to create. Even while navigating her challenging health journey she still managed to stay positive as she networked her way through hospitals and therapy visits selling her products to nurses and caretakers! She leaves behind a beautiful wealth of products! If you would like to purchase one of her items we would be more than happy to package them with all of our love for you to enjoy. All funds collected from the purchase of her items will also be divided evenly among the two different artisan groups (below).
