About the Health Equity for All (HEFA) Symposium

The Health Equity for All Inaugural Symposium's brings together experts, thought leaders, artists, community members, and public health practitioners to explore equal access to achieving health prosperity. Through insightful discussions, we'll delve into opportunities for achieving health equity for all.

Registration: The HEFA Inaugural Symposium is free and open to the public.

Check In: Doors will open for checkin and networking breakfast at 9:30am. Attendees are encouraged to be seated at 10:00am for the opening drumming ceremony and event.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch will be provided.

HEFA Community Awards

Health Equity Community Awards are designed to recognize and celebrate the contributions of outstanding community based organizations, movement builders and leaders striving to foster health prosperity for underrepresented individuals in the Commonwealth.

"We Need Health Prosperity" Award in honor of Helen Rodriguez Trias, Pediatrician and Public Health Ethicist at the margins advocating for women's reproductive rights and dignity in public health practices for minoritized communities.

Award Recipient: Lilly Marcelin, Executive Director & Founder, Resilient Sisterhood Project

Cultural Keeper Award in honor of Eugenio Maria de Hostos, a cultural keeper, educator, sociologist, philosopher, and a social justice activist.

Award Recipient: Rosario Ubiera-Minaya, Executive Director, Raw Art Works Lynn

"En La Lucha" Service Award in honor of Mujerista Theologian and Social Ethicist, Ada Maria Isasi Dias who through her liberative praxis promoted the values of social responsibility, solidarity, and social utility.

Award Recipient: Senator Elizabeth Miranda, 2nd Suffolk District

HEFA Health Fair

A community health fair is a great way to learn about the efforts of local community-based organizations, share health information, and promote racial health equity efforts awareness. The HEFA health fair provides attendees with opportunities to engage local community-based organizations advancing racial health equity across the Commonwealth. The health fair will take place in the Fellowship Hall from 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm.

About Prospera Institute: Founded in 2021, as an independent nonprofit organisation, Prospera Institute explores ethical questions in public health at the intersections of race, culture, ethnicity and social justice. Prospera’s origins trace back to 2019, when the LatinX Bioethics grassroots coalition led by founder Joanne Suarez, advocated for inclusion and recognition of LatinX ethicists and communities in ethical discourse.
