Living Design Studios is an award-winning architectural and ornamental metal shop in Erie, Colorado. We are celebrating 30 years in 2024 and to commemorate this milestone, we held an international steel sculpture design competition with the theme of "Elevating 30". The esteemed panel of judges consisted of renowned experts from Olson Kundig, Walker Fine Art, The Art Base, UC Denver, College of Architecture and Planning, and Groundworks Art Lab.

The winning design from artist Steve Zolin, titled Up on 30: The Invisible Machinery of the Universe was fabricated by Living Design Studios and unveiled at the 30th Anniversary Celebration, METALPALOOZA, on September 6, 2024. The silent auction was launched at the event and will continue through October 20, 2024. The starting bid is $9,000.

The auction is a fundraiser for Groundworks Art Lab where the love of the industrial arts is ignited in the next generation. Formerly Studio Arts Boulder, this local non-profit's mission is to cultivate the artist in each of us by inviting creative collaboration in the study, practice, and, advancement of metal, wood, ceramics, glass, and printmaking. Classes are made accessible to everyone in their new 12,000 square foot building.
