We invite our community to become part of a once-in-a-lifetime humanitarian experience by participating in the 2500 year old practice of the Sacred Arts of Tibet.

Between April 18, 2023 and April 22 2023, 7 monks from the Drepung Loseling monastery will take residence at the Pleroma sanctuary in Rancho Santa Fe, California to build a sacred sand mandala of The Green Tara.

By the way the purpose of this profound ceremony is to help the Drepung Loseling Monestary continue to expand the wisdom, teachings and sacred secret healing frequencies throughout the world. Maintaining an Art Form that was at risk of being forgotten.

The word mandala arises from the Sanskrit and means sacred circle. The circle symbolizes the womb of creation; and mandalas are geometric designs that are made through uniform divisions of the circle.

Sacred geometry is considered an ancient science that explores and explains the energy patterns that create and unify all things. It reveals the precise way that the energy of creation organizes itself. Every natural pattern of growth or movement comes back to one or more geometric shapes.

Before a monk is permitted to work on constructing a mandala he must undergo a long period of technical artistic training and memorization, learning how to draw all the various symbols and studying related philosophical concepts. At the Namgyal monastery (the personal monastery of the Dalai lama), for example, this period is three years.

The visualization and concretization of the mandala is one of the most significant contributions of Buddhism to religious psychology. Mandalas are seen as sacred places which, by their very presence in the world, remind a viewer of the immanence of sanctity in the universe and its potential in oneself. In the context of the Buddhist path the purpose of a mandala is to be a means to discover divinity by the realization that it resides within one's own self.
