🐲 The Legend of The Dragon Playhouse

The Dragon Playhouse is Church of Soft Power's virtual stage that hosts all of our Altar Ego shows.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Founding Artists crossed digital paths as their personal worlds unraveled, in search of a sanctuary for their voices, stories, and creative expression.

Together they uncovered a shared truth: Through creative expression, we can remember our true nature, shift how we engage with the world, and co-create the future of our dreams. The Church of Soft Power was born.

Following Surrender, a first-of-its-kind singing event at the historic First Unitarian Church of Los Angeles in 2024, the Soft Power artists continued to wonder how they could bring experiences like this to their values-aligned peers unable to attend or perform in-person.

Led by creative producer and drag king Tim Mick Raw and professor-in-residency Dr. Kinky, The Dragon Playhouse was incepted in January 2025 with Drag-In Frequency: our first Altar Ego drag show. Following 2 more shows, and what viewers called "the ultimate queer film festival," our Drag Daddy recognized their mentorship was complete and crowned the Wu Priestesses mothers of the playhouse.

The Debut is our first Altar Ego Variety, welcoming performing artists of all genres and experience levels.

This event marks a significant milestone in discovering our voice and calling as Church of Soft Power. Thank you for supporting our virtual sanctuary and stage for self-expression and creative transformation.

🧧 Where Your Donations Go

All performers receive a base pay and tips during the live event are split equally among the cast & crew. All donations credited to the Cast Fan Club at checkout will be split equally among the cast. Our wish is for our performers to receive for their art and witness the material impact of their courageous expression.

The remaining $10,725 goal is set to cover costs of producing the show, including:

Development of the Altar Ego curriculum
Digital tools required for the program experience
Coordination and facilitation of 8 care containers and 5 office hours provided to the performers
Marketing, communications, & fundraising efforts for the show

The true value of producing this program based on the time and professional experience of our guides is $30,030. Our goals for The Debut are set with awareness of our community's current reach and capacity. We share this number in an effort to honor our labor, creative energy, and value of resourcing artists.

Church of Soft Power is volunteer-run and remains open to the virtual public through sponsors, donors, and raffle buyers. Under Section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code, all financial contributions are automatically tax-deductible.
