Experience Matters! Research shows that high-quality, experiential learning experiences empower students from under-resourced backgrounds to achieve academic and personal success. Out-of-school learning experiences, such as STEM camps at research universities or cultural immersion programs abroad, ignite curiosity, foster social-emotional growth, and expose students to future career paths. As a nonprofit, DiscoverU works to connect underserved students to college and career preparatory programs that bridge educational gaps and advance students’ postsecondary potential.

Data shows that DiscoverU students achieve higher educational outcomes than their peers who do not attend experiential learning programs.

Texas students are facing a guidance gap and an opportunity gap. Chronic underfunding and recent budget cuts mean many public schools don’t have a dedicated counselor—and those that do often assign one counselor to 400+ students.
