Valley Cares is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 2022 with a clear purpose: to advocate for and support vulnerable individuals and families in our community. We work to close gaps in access to care by meeting people where they are and responding to immediate needs with compassion and integrity.

Our work is designed to address urgent needs while building pathways toward long-term stability and empowerment. Locally, Valley Cares operates a bi-weekly onsite health clinic for patrons of the Lacey Spring Food Pantry and The Lemonade Stand, in close partnership with both organizations. We also provide medical support to the Community Paramedic Program in Harrisonburg and ongoing assistance to the Open Doors Homeless Shelter. Beyond our local footprint, Valley Cares supports a language school in Costa Rica, expanding access to education and opportunity abroad. As community needs evolve, we remain committed to identifying and responding to new opportunities to serve through collaboration and action.

The Lacey Spring Food Pantry’s mission is to provide nourishing food to neighbors in need. Currently, the pantry serves an average of 135 families—approximately 450 individuals—every Monday, representing a critical lifeline for food security in the region.

The Lemonade Stand, a subsidiary of the Lacey Spring Food Pantry, has supported the community for over five years by providing over-the-counter medications, wound care supplies, seasonal cold and flu items, feminine hygiene products, and hair care essentials. Operating as a weekly supplement to the food pantry and on an emergency-need basis, The Lemonade Stand helps ensure that basic health and hygiene needs are met when they matter most.
