We individualize our coursework to accelerate when possible and decelerate when necessary, always celebrating strengths and meeting students where they are.

Westlawn School is a private independent school serving students who are 8 years and older. Westlawn students have above average intellectual ability, and are perhaps even gifted in certain areas. In the traditional school setting, he/she/they may struggle with social relationships and have difficulty communicating with others and making friends. This student may have occasional outbursts when situations feel out of control or may seem withdrawn and isolated from the group. He/she/they may struggle with anxiety, perform poorly on tests, and may have trouble with executive functions such as preparing and organizing materials. While excelling in one area this student may perform poorly in others, even though they are intelligent and able to learn. The Westlawn School student tends to perform better in smaller groups with multi-sensory instruction and social skill support. While we often refer to our school as a program for children who are twice exceptional (i.e., gifted in one area(s), delayed in other(s), no formal diagnosis is required.
