About Burns Sci Tech

Our story began in Oak Hill, where a small neighborhood elementary school was slated to close. Determined to keep education alive in our community, families, teachers, and local leaders came together with creative support to open Burns Sci-Tech. What started as a grassroots effort has grown into a thriving K–12 institution serving more than 1,100 students across Volusia and northern Brevard counties.

As a public charter school in Florida, Burns Sci-Tech receives about 30% less funding than traditional public schools. We rely on fundraising and community partnerships—just as we did in our earliest days—to bridge this gap and provide students with the best opportunities possible. This annual event raises essential funds for our Literacy Lab, STEM Center, K-12 programs, and campus improvements.
