Write Club Chicago is proud to bring Write Club: Royal Ramble to GMan Tavern for the very first Write Club fundraiser in its 13 seasons. Royal Ramble will be an all-out Write Club literary brawl of all-stars and Write Club staff, with live music by Mystik Spiral, beer from Howard Street Brewing, cocktails by Deep Eddy, a silent auction that can be accessed online, and access to the mobile VIP Smoke Lounge from Sesh City (accessible one hour before showtime and after the show until 10pm). The evening will feature Write Club’s famous literary battle format, with combatants “defending” their topics with a seven-minute pre-written essay. The winner is determined by audience applause and judges selected from the audience that evening. As always, the winner receives $100 and The Loving Cup of Deathless F**king Glory, while the one who doesn’t win receives $50. All money raised going toward funding the 14th season as Write Club Chicago seeks a new permanent sponsor. Artists should be paid for their work, so they hope to raise combatant pay, as well as hire more staff to recruit for and market the show.
