Teen writers (many of whom are marginalized because of their identity) who are receiving daily messages that their voices can be silenced.
Adult writers who have received messages that creativity is meant for children, not for them.

2016: The first Girls Write workshop takes place in Brookline
2017: Rainbow Writers workshop begins for LGBTQIA2S+ teen writers
2018: Write Pittsburgh joins Dave Eggers’ International Alliance of Youth Writing Centers
2019: A Write Pittsburgh teen writer is selected to participate in Eggers’ International Congress of Youth Voices project, a week-long youth summit in San Juan, Puerto Rico
2020: Write Pittsburgh launches its Adult Program
2021: Boys Write added to the teen workshops and Teen Council is established
2022: Write Pittsburgh becomes a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
2023: Partnering with the Black Unicorn Project on a writing residency at the Cutting Root Farm.
Coming in 2024: Creative writing workshops at the Allegheny County Jail
